Lefort Podiatry offer quality podiatry care for the treatment of stiff foot and ankle joints to local Doveton, Forest Hill, Blackburn, Vermont and Burwood East residents.
Joints of the foot and ankle frequently become stiff and resistant to movement. This may frequently be as a result of injury or surgery to the soft tissue structures surrounding the joint whereby the healing tissue contracts and becomes sticky, termed adhesions.
Stiff joints with adhesions may cause pain and overuse of the muscles that move those joints due to increased resistance. In addition, joints that move less freely may result in compensatory movements of adjacent joints and changes in gait that can then cause related foot and ankle pain.
For management see Soft Tissue Mobilisation and Foot and/or Ankle Joint Mobilisation.
